Who we are and how we work

It’s about community

Our Community Foundation is passionate about creating vibrant, thriving communities throughout the capital region. The Foundation works with donors to meet their unique charitable goals, supports area nonprofits with grants and coaching, and leads innovative projects that drive community growth. The Community Foundation (also known as the Capital Region Community Foundation) is a tax-exempt public charity that serves the charitable needs and enhances the quality of life for people in Ingham, Clinton and Eaton counties.

And we need you

When you partner with our Community Foundation, you are joining a family of donors united in their desire to strengthen our community.

Together we feed hungry families, fund nature centers, support refugee youth in their pursuit of a GED, and protect Lansing’s waterways, parks and trails. And much more.

Giving in action: The Jean D. Harrison Charitable Fund

Education. Medicine. Scientific research. Through their establishment of The Jean D. Harrison Charitable Fund, former Ingham County Circuit Judge Michael Harrison and his wife, Deborah, are able to address the issues that matter to them.

There are so many opportunities for people to make a big difference. The time is right for the Community Foundation to be able to do more, and hopefully people will realize CRCF is a wonderful vehicle for doing so.”

— Deborah Harrison, donor
